Hey Dr. Science! Why does mold grow faster on potatoes than on paper? I found some nasty cheese with mold in the fridge and wondered if it would keep growing so I scraped some on potato flakes & paper towels to grow a mold garden 🙂

mold will grow faster on potatoes than on paper for a lot of reasons. The most important is that potato has lots of good stuff for the mold to eat, while paper has only a little bit, and it isn’t nearly as easy for the mold to digest.

      Its all about food.
